Christoph Rahn

Principal Bassist of O.B.C. (Symphonic Orchestra of Barcelona and Nacional of Catalunya). Born in Isny im Allgäu, Germany. He studied bass at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium in Munic with Professor Erwin Götz (soloist with the Philharmonic in Munic) and the Hochschule der Künste Berlin with Heinz Jablonski (soloist with the Berlin Opera) .

Participated in master classes with N. Duka, C. Niemann and F. Petracci.

He was part of the youth orchestra of Baden Württemberg, Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and Jugendorchester RIAS (Radio Youth Orchestra of Berlin American Sector), where he worked with directors such as Pierre Boulez and Giuseppe Sinopoli.
He played with the Radio Sinfonie Orchester Berlin, East Berlin RSO, assistant soloist in the Opera Staatstheater Kassel and member of the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. Hired by the Bamberger Symphoniker, he worked under the direction of renowned conductors such as Horst Stein, Sinopoli, Blomstedt, etc. Toured with them to Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Austria …
He was professor of bass at the Conservatory of Terrassa, Manresa, in the Orchestral Repertoire AIFO courses and JONC.
Now, he is professor at the Liceo Conservatory.
In Spain,he collaborated with the Orchestra of Gran Canaria and ONCA.
From very young age, he performed as solist with Lindenberg Camerata Chamber Orchestra of Ludwigsburg. At the same time, performed chamber music with piano in Leutkirch, Friedrichshafen, Isny …

As soloist with the O.B.C. has performed chamber music concerts in the Salo de Cent of Barcelona and toured Germany together with the pianists Anna Canudas and Daniel Espasa. He has recorded with Anna Canudas  C.D. “Variations Breus” and with Daniel Espasa the CD “Sonats” original works for the bass, promoting the works. Besides the recording which includes works by composer and bassist Pere Valls, he began publishing works of Pere Valls with Clivis editorial. At the request of the family and the editorial, Christoph Rahn is at rigorous editing of works from the original manuscripts.
He recently toured performing in Lleida Catalonia, Martorell, Reus, Friends dels Classics, Ruby, St. Boi de Llobregat, Sabadell, the Taixonera and SGAE BCN. This last concert was recorded by RNE (Radio Nacional of Spain).

Among his last concerts are, at the Palau de la Música BCN with pianist Maria Joao Pires, the “Trout” with Christian Zacharias and at the Auditori de BCN performing the aria “Per questa bella hand” of WA Mozart with baritone Klaus Mertens.
This year has launched the “Gean concierto para contrabajo” of Pere Valls with Vallès Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Edmon Colomer and has also performed Koussevitzy concerto with the OBC under the direction of Salvador Brotons with acclaimed response from the press and public.
